Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
CatCoach is developed and published by an independent developer ("we", "us"). This policy covers the CatCoach iOS app, this website, and our support channel. Contact: zhouss1120@gmail.com.
2. Information stored on your device
The following stays on your iPhone and isn't uploaded to us, except for the plan details described in section 3:
- Cat profiles: name, age group, sex, spay/neuter status, indoor or outdoor lifestyle, and household setup such as litter boxes, scratchers, other pets, people, and recent changes at home.
- Behavior checks: the problem you chose and your answers.
- Plans, task progress, skip reasons, daily behavior logs, incident notes, and round reviews.
- Optional cat photos you select through Apple’s system photo picker. Images are resized and saved inside the app on your device; CatCoach does not request access to your full photo library. Photos are never sent to our server, RevenueCat, or the AI provider. You can remove photos in your cat’s profile; deleting a profile or erasing all local data also deletes its photo files.
- Reminder settings and an acknowledgment that you read the disclaimer.
You can erase all of it at any time in the app under Settings, Erase All Local Data, or by deleting the app.
3. Information sent when AI adjusts a plan
Your first plan is built on your iPhone, and nothing is sent to build it. When a 14-day round ends and you start the next one, CatCoach asks for your permission before using AI. Only if you allow it, the app sends a request to our server, which runs on Cloudflare Workers. The server checks it and forwards it to our AI model provider, currently DeepSeek, which writes the adjusted plan. DeepSeek processes data on servers in China. The request contains:
- the problem category and a medical risk level computed on your device from the health check;
- the likely causes identified on your device and the answer choices behind them;
- your cat's age group, sex, spay/neuter status, and whether it lives indoors only;
- the number of litter boxes, cats, and scratchers in your home and coded recent changes (for example, "moved home");
- the round's daily incident logs, task completion, skip reasons (reason codes only, not notes), the titles of the round's tasks, and whether you said things got better;
- the plan length, the app language, and random request and session IDs, used to avoid duplicate processing and to match a vet-clearance confirmation to the right behavior check.
You can withdraw permission at any time in the app under Settings, "Use AI to adjust plans". Plans are then adjusted on your device.
The request doesn't include your cat's name, any text you type, photos, your location, or an account. It does carry a random ID that the app creates when it's installed, used only to authenticate the request with our server. That ID isn't linked to your Apple Account or to your device's hardware or advertising identifiers, and our server doesn't store it. Our server keeps the generated result for about 10 minutes so a retried request isn't processed twice, then deletes it. We don't keep the request content after it's processed. Our server passes only the cat, home, and answer details to the AI model provider; it uses the medical risk level and the IDs for its own checks and doesn't pass them on. The AI model provider processes the request on our behalf to return the plan.
Our website and API are hosted on Cloudflare, which processes network information such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver and protect the service. We do not add analytics, advertising trackers or cookies to this website, and we do not store IP addresses with plan data.
4. Purchases
Payments are processed by Apple; we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to show products, verify purchases, and restore them. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID it creates, your purchase and subscription history for CatCoach, and basic app and device information such as app version, OS version, and App Store country. The app stores a time-limited record of your access on your device so it can work offline. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
5. Support emails
If you email us at zhouss1120@gmail.com, we use your email address and message only to reply and keep a record of the request. Our support mailbox is hosted by Google (Gmail), which processes those emails to provide its email service.
6. How we use information
- to generate your plan and keep it consistent with your answers;
- to process, verify, and restore purchases;
- to answer support requests;
- to keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
We don't use your information for advertising, profiling, or selling, and the app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs.
7. Who we share it with
Only with the service providers that run CatCoach for us: Google (support email), Cloudflare (website and API hosting), DeepSeek, our AI model provider (plan writing), RevenueCat (purchase management), and Apple (payments and app distribution). Each may process data only to provide its service. We may disclose information if the law requires it.
8. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including the United States (Google, Cloudflare, RevenueCat) and China (DeepSeek). Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
9. Retention
- On-device data: until you erase it or delete the app.
- Plan generation results on our server: about 10 minutes.
- Plan requests sent to DeepSeek: under DeepSeek's own API data retention terms, which we don't control.
- Purchase records at RevenueCat and Apple: as long as needed to provide and verify your purchases, and as required by law.
- Support emails: as long as needed to handle your request.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or US states such as California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Because most of your data never leaves your device, you can delete it directly in the app. For purchase-related data, email us with the date of your purchase and we'll help, including by asking RevenueCat to delete it. We don't sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
11. Children
CatCoach is meant for adult cat owners and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
12. Security
Requests to our server use HTTPS. The AI provider's key is kept on the server and never ships in the app. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect and how long we keep it.
13. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
